South Shropshire Furniture Scheme
South Shropshire Furniture Scheme delivers a range of projects comprising a furniture scheme, communi-ty hubs, retail and catering outlets, warehousing facility and community gardens.
Through different engagement activities, BBO participants will be introduced to a wide range of work ex-perience and training opportunities including customer service, retail, health and safety, administration, warehousing, horticulture and employability.
The working environment lends itself to providing training and real work experiences that suit a range of interests and abilities in a supportive way. Participants work alongside staff and volunteers, contributing to the daily running of all our activities.
Through engagement with the BBO project participants will experience:
An employment officer utilising robust systems for supporting disadvantaged people, monitoring theirprogression and guiding them into employment;
Help to identify their strengths, aspirations and personal goals;
Supportive relationships build trust and confidence and develop motivation to move towards employment.
Access support from a variety of services at community focus days enabling participants to address some of their more complex barriers. Services might include Occupational Health, dementia café, housing, debt, employment support & IT classes.
Established referral systems with local training providers, Community Mental Health Team, local housing providers, prime work programme providers.
Access to opportunities across the Wrekin Housing Group for further training, apprenticeships and employment.
Help to access IT; develop CVs, search and apply for jobs on line.
