D’Arcy has been looking for work for over 18 months, having only worked in the retail sector seasonally, D’Arcy felt she was struggling to find the support she needed to find meaningful employment.
After being referred by her local Job Centre, she met with Landau Employment Specialist, Graham, who consulted and agreed with D’Arcy what her future career options were. Reflecting upon their initial one-to-one, Graham said “When I first met D’Arcy I realized that she would be a strong candidate for employment but needed to address certain barriers before she would be in a position to love forward”
D’Arcy and the Landau BBO Herefordshire team felt that confidence and job searching were the primary barriers preventing her from becoming the success she was clearly capable of becoming.
Through the Building Better Opportunities Herefordshire programme (led by Landau), which has been helping people across Herefordshire get back into work, volunteering or further training through varied and engaging activities, D’Arcy was matched to a work placement at The Entertainer.
Within just a few weeks D’Arcy’s confidence greatly improved, thinking of her work experience at the retailer, D’Arcy said,
“It has been a great placement, the staff are really helpful.”
This placement is proving invaluable in improving her confidence and updating her CV with current, relevant work experience. Already, D’Arcy has been complimented on her eagerness to learn, work ethic, and customer service skills.
We’re confident that thanks to BBO Herefordshire and Landau’s Employment Specialist Team, that D’Arcy’s future looks bright and she’d compliment any organisation looking for personable and dedicated retail staff.
Building Better Opportunities Herefordshire is funded by the European Social Fund and National Lottery, through the Big Lottery Fund. Funding supports projects in England that tackle poverty and promote social inclusion.
