The BBO Shropshire project brings together over 20 organisations, led by Landau, to engage with those furthest away from the labour market helping them move forwards into employment.</p><!-- [et_pb_line_break_holder] --><p style="margin: 0px 0px 10.66px;">When he first heard about the 12-week Building Better Opportunities work placement with <a href="http://www.headwayshropshire.org.uk/">Headway</a>, a brain injury association and partner in the BBO Shropshire project, Stevan was unsure about taking part as the environment was different to anything he’d experienced before.</p><!-- [et_pb_line_break_holder] --><p style="margin: 0px 0px 10.66px;">During the three months volunteering at the Rehabilitation and Reablement centre, Stevan benefitted from Headway’s staff expertise, supported clients with independent living skills and personal care, engaged clients in exercise and craft classes and learnt skills in mental capacity, safeguarding vulnerable adults and infection control to name a few.</p><!-- [et_pb_line_break_holder] --><p style="margin: 0px 0px 10.66px;">“When I started at Headway, I was initially out of my depth with the complexity of the work schedule and limitations of some of the clients” reflected Stevan, “almost every aspect of rehab work I found challenging, pushing me out of my comfort zone.”</p><!-- [et_pb_line_break_holder] --><p style="margin: 0px 0px 10.66px;">With the support of his colleagues, Stevan overcame his apprehension and made incredible progress.</p><!-- [et_pb_line_break_holder] --><p style="margin: 0px 0px 10.66px;">Recognising the barriers Stevan had overcome and impressed by his genuine interest in support work and personable nature, the senior management team at Headway offered Stevan a permanent place on the team as a support worker.</p><!-- [et_pb_line_break_holder] -->"By taking part in the BBO programme, I’ve got a job, I’ve built great relationships with people.
