Landau Ltd. is a supported employment and work-related training organisation that aims to provide local people (including those with learning disabilities, long-term health issues, the long-term unemployed and disadvantaged young people) with the skills and support they need to find sustainable employment and purposeful futures. We offer a variety of activities at the centre that includes vocational and enterprise projects spanning from horticulture and woodwork, catering and hospitality and arts and crafts.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Chef to join our expanding Training and Enterprise centre is located on the North Staffs and Stoke on Trent boarder near Trentham. Our enterprise café serves the local community and provides valuable work experience placements for people we are supporting on our projects.
We are looking to recruit a Chef to oversee the Café and support the Café Tutor in the future development and expansion of our offer. The role involves:
• planning, costing and preparing menus and the food offer for the café, to include catering for external events, special occasions or additional service as required
• maintaining high standards of food hygiene and compliance with food standards
• supporting and contributing to the training and development of our service users and volunteers
• supporting the growth and expansion of the business acting with initiative & enterprise
The role is currently part-time, 3 days a week (9.00am to 4.00pm) Tuesday to Thursday. However, as the business grows and develops there will be the opportunity to extend the hours. The hourly rate is £10. There may the occasion for travel to other sites so a full driving licence and access to a car are essential. Applicants will need to undertake an enhanced DBS disclosure. Applicants must have a minimum of 1 years’ experience in a chef/cook role.
Plan, cost, order and prepare the menu and food offer for the café
Maintain high standards of food hygiene and compliance with food standards
Create a friendly, welcoming and inclusive environment for clients, customers and the public
Support and contribute to the training and development of our trainees and volunteers, providing coaching and mentoring to support their progress and development and assisting them to acquire appropriate skills in the catering environment
Support the growth and expansion of the business acting with initiative and enterprise
Contribute to the business development, new initiatives, projects and bids in order to extend the reach of the business and opportunities for progression for learners
Manage the food preparation aspect of the café service and contribute as required to catering for special events, occasions or additional service
Working as part of a team, providing cover, support and flexibility in your approach to your duties and as a positive and proactive team member
